Breathless (Netflix)

Another medical drama is in Netflix and it’s called Breathless. It’s actually a Spanish medical drama. Surprisingly, it’s very high quality. It looks more like a series of mini movies on the way it’s recorded. The dub quality though is a bit wonky because sometimes the voice actor can’t really capture the actual emotion.

Unfortunately, there’s been a “slant” or bias in Spanish tv shows as of late. They’re mostly inundated with leftist bias. I saw it in “Back to 15”, Merli, Smiley and more. I’m not conservative or far right or anything. I grew quite liberal being a gay man. However, the current day leftists are unrecognizable. Spoilers after this.

Younger – TV Show

It’s funny that I’m now 40 and I found this TV show called Younger. I actually never knew this show and I was scrolling through Netflix shows and got curious of the title. Maybe it called out to me because of a slow impending mid-life crisis that I’m feeling right now. Watched the first episode and I got hooked.

Sutton Foster as Liza Miller in Younger

However, the casting does imply that you need to suspend reality a bit as the lead female played by Sutton Foster isn’t exactly 27 looking. But she does look “younger” (see what I did there?). The premise is basically a 40 year old woman experiences a life changing moment (divorce) and is braving the employment line. The show kicks off because Liza Miller gets mistaken as a millennial by one another 40 year old woman. This is where the casting choices, the clothing and character help contrast their ages to make the story a bit believable.

Diana Trout played by Miriam Shor is just 4 years older than Sutton Foster. But with a bit of make up magic and clever dialogue, they’ve managed to play off Liza as a 27 year old. The show Younger revolves around how Liza can keep up the charade which isn’t that much as somehow her social development stopped in her 20s right after getting married and having a kid.

Some spoilers after this.

Ghost Doctor in Netflix

After 12 hour shifts in the hospital, I finally settled down enough and watched Ghost Doctor in Netflix. This TV series has been on my list for quite some time. I am familiar with K-dramas at such a young age. Especially when my sister unwittingly made me her accomplice in burning DVDs of early 2000s K-dramas. To which she sold them to her friends and I got nothing in return. Telenovelas and the like was never my cup of tea when I was younger. I did get exposed eventually and it was a different experience from the typical Philippine teleseryes.
